BBQ Pizza

Hey Everyone - or few people that like to read these! :)

I know it's been quite awhile since I've posted anything but I have a goodie today! BBQ PIZZA! So easy, so tasty and SO deliscious!

Whatever your favourite pizza is normally, you can make it into an amazing BBQ Pizza.
Some of the favourite toppings at our house are

  • Caramelized onions
  • Goat Cheese
  • Proscuitto
  • Grilled corn kernels
I mean really you can use ANYTHING that tastes good normally. Have fun, experiment and enjoy!
Here's how it all comes together.
For dough usually I get some from Deluca's; It's tasty, works really well and saves me time from having to make it myself. You can get fresh (unbaked) pizza dough from quite a few places now. You can even ask your local pizza joint. They are usually happy to sell you some!

These pizzas were caramelized onions, spicy chorizo slices and tomato sauce

BBQ Pizza

Ingredients:

Pizza Dough
Sauce
Toppings* and Cheese
*Have all your toppings ready. Whether that means, pre cut veggies or pre cooked chicken or onions.

Instructions:
  1. Start the BBQ and have it ready on medium - medium low
  2.  Roll or stretch out the pizza dough. Oil both sides and have it ready on a large cutting board
  3. Put the oiled pizza dough on the grill. Don't move it, don't touch it; Just close the grill lid and let it cook for a few minutes (3-4 approx). **hint**
  4. Once the dough has nice grill marks and it's released, flip it over and start adding your toppings.
    1. Put on the sauce first
    2. Put on a thin layer of your toppings and cheese.
  5. Close the lid of the grill and let it go for a few minutes more until the underside of the dough has nice grill marks and the pizza is cooked through.
  6. If your toppinga and cheese are not quite as cooked as you would like them to be you can do one of two things:
    1. Move your dough to one side if the BBQ and turn off the burners directly underneath your dough - turn up the burners beside your dough, close the lid and let it cook for a few more minutes until your cheese and topping are cooked enough. This is an indirect way of cooking the dough and basically creates a BBQ Oven.
    2. Turn your burners down to low while your adding the toppings. This will allow the bottom to cook a lot slower and allow the toppings to have a longer cooking time.
  7. Take your pizza off the grill, let it rest for 5 minutes. Then cut, serve and ENJOY!

**hint** The Pizza dough will let up from the grills when it's ready to flip. So don't worry about sticking; the dough will tell you when it's ready

This pizza is something easy that everyone should try. I promise you'll love that grilled flavour that gets added on the BBQ.

If you've tried this please let me know what you thought and what toppings are your favourite!
