Yummy, Oooie, Gooey , Cheese sauce!
This sauce goes great on practically anything.
It makes Veggies taste better, potatoes yummier and anything else you put it on just plain old better!
It's a cinch to make and great recipe to have up your sleeve.
I thought of this because my sister wanted cheese sauce last night for the veggie at sunday dinner. I made it and it really does bring back memories from when we were little. I've watched my mom make this a hundred times and it's ALWAYS soooo tasty.
So, here the recipe and please let me know if you've tried it, liked it or have your own family secrets to making it yummy.
Cheese Sauce
2 T Butter (or olive oil for the healthy minded)
2 T flour
1/2 c milk (more for thinning later)
2 cups grated cheddar cheese **** CHEESE NOTE AT THE BOTTOM***
1. Make a rough by adding the butter and flour to a pan. Let the butter melt and cook the flour. You'll know when it's ready because the flour starts to turn a pale golden colour and it has a nutty smell to it.
2. WHISK in the milk un stir until smooth and creamy looking add a pinch of salt and pepper to taste. This happens fast so once you pour in the milk WHISK WHISK WHISK so you don't get lumps.
3. Stir in the cheese (let it melt) and thin with additional milk if you like it thinner.
3 easy steps to wonderful cheese sauce!!
**CHEESE NOTE! :)
I like to use squeakers or cheese curd for the cheese sauce. It makes the cheese EXTRA gooey and stringy.
